The History of Transportation Development

Walking was human's first means of transportation. After that, humans started to ride animals for higher speed. Also, riding animals was a good way to carry loads. At long last, the wheel was invented. It was a wonderful invention. The wheel made the animal transportation more efficient because it allows heavier burdens to carry. After the industrial revolution, humans did not rely on animal muscles anymore. Also, the invention of the steam engine developed the transportation rapidly. And now we can see a variety of good transportations in the land, air and the sea.

The first forms of land transportation were horses. And the automobile was invented at the turn into the 20th century. Approximately 100 years after, the automobile became the most common land vehicle which includes bus, truck and motorcycle. Also, the automobile offers us high flexibility and an easy life because we are able to go everywhere in cars. And rail transportation also is another major form of land transportation. Rail transportation can carry lots of passengers or freight. Besides, it is very safe to move. And it move with more efficient than the automobile though not as efficient as ships.

Do you know about the history of a ship? The first water transportation was an canoe cut out from trees. And boats, ships or sailboats appeared in history but steam ships didn't appear until the mid 1800s. At the beginning of steam ships, the steam was produced burning woods or coals. But now most ships have an engine using a refined type of petroleum. And modern sea transportation is a highly effective method of transporting large goods. Moreover, the transportation by sea is significantly less costly than air transportation.

The Wright brothers made the first successful flights on 17 December 1903. It was the first airplane. After World War I, air transportation became a fast way to express goods and over long distances. And in the beginning of World War II, many countries had built airports, and there were lots of pilots available. Also, the war brought a variety of technical innovations to air transportation. Eventually, air transportation was booming. Now air transportation is able to transport people and loads quickly over longer distances, though it need high costs and energies.

Transportation is the movement of people and goods from one location to another. It gave us a very significant impact on human development. Also, we were able to enrich the living through good transportations in the land, air and the sea. So, the history of human has developed along with transportation development. Therefore, positive uses of transportation can help advance the human race, creating a more healthier and better world.
